OLTRE IL SILENZIO

Oltre il Silenzio is a site-specific sound installation in All Saints Church in Bergamo commissioned by the city of Bergamo that was created as a reflection on the collective memory of the pandemic given by Covid-19 and the need to transform silence into listening.
The work takes inspiration from Psalm 141, a prayer of invocation and protection, and translates it into a soundscape in which symbolic sounds - the siren of an ambulance, the beating of hospital machines translated into Morse code, and labored breathing - are interwoven with electronic textures.
The work is not meant to be a simple reminder of pain, but a search for meaning in the sound that is life, a bridge between absence and presence, between human frailty and the possibility of endurance.
The title suggests an overcoming: beyond enforced silence, beyond isolation, beyond fear, there is a sound that still vibrates and connects us.
